SAWATA

SAWATA
SAWATA, is a women’s co-op created by Worldview and the local community organization HOCODECO. Worldview provides funds for materials and sewing machines for the women (who are tailors and jewelry makers) and ensures that they receive a fair wage for the goods they produce. Bracelets, necklaces and cotton robes made by these women are available for purchase at Worldview fundraising events and soon will be available for purchase at our website. SAWATA is an acronym for Saida Wanawake wa Tanzania, which means “Support Women of Tanzania” in Kiswahili.

How You Can Help

Funds are needed to purchase sewing machines and materials. One sewing machine costs $150. A sewing machine will provide a life-long means for a woman to support her family.
