About UsWorldview Education and Care is a 501(c)(3) charity founded in 2007 by Chicagoans Ann Mitchell Avery and Robert Dean Avery after their third trip to Tanzania. Worldview began by providing support to an orphanage in Nshupu Village in the Meru District of northern Tanzania (near Mount Kilimanjaro).

We have assisted with operating expenses at the orphanage including school supplies, clothing and school uniforms, and have funded special projects including assistance with the construction costs of a new building. We also have purchased items such as a gas cooker, furniture, and a used two-seat pickup truck. The truck has been essential, as it is used to not only haul supplies but provide much needed transportation. Prior to its purchase, the children would carry buckets containing fresh water a mile uphill back to the orphanage. Fresh water sustains life and is difficult to come by. As a result, Worldview proudly helped fund the Ngare Sero water project, which developed a system to pipe water from the local spring to Nshupu Village. This not only benefited the orphanage directly, but also contributed to the health and well being of the entire community.

Our supporters frequently make designated donations. For example, employees of Fortis Investments paid for schoolbooks for the 2009 academic year, and the women of The Brookhaven Quilters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Boise, Idaho, made and donated quilts for each of the children.

Worldview since has expanded its reach, and now supports a variety of education and health care services in the area. We work closely with Nshupu Village officials and local education and medical organizations in developing our programs. Our current work is described under Projects.

Our mission is to make a difference in these communities, to improve peoples’ quality of life by providing the essentials; nutrition, healthcare, and education; to give these people a future and opportunity to better themselves and their communities for generations to come.

We are grateful to all of the individuals, corporations, and organizations that have made this possible. With your continued contributions, Worldview will be able to not only create new programs but also expand on those existing. We are excited about this future.
